Oblique reslicing
Standard axial/coronal/sagittal slices create partial-volume artifacts when electrodes run obliquely. NeuXelec computes a custom plane perpendicular to each electrode's axis, giving a clean cross-sectional view of every contact.
- Planes are computed on-the-fly from electrode trajectory and contact positions
- Two electrodes can be displayed simultaneously side by side
- Rotate around the shaft axis with Ctrl+drag or rotation slider
- Zoom and pan within each oblique view
- A mini 3D preview shows the plane geometry in context
Multi-modal blending
Toggle CT, MRI, PET, and SISCOM overlays independently. Each modality has its own opacity slider (0–100%) for precise blending. PET and SISCOM each have an adjustable color scale.
SISCOM overlay
The SISCOM z-score map computed in step 01 can be overlaid directly on the oblique slices. Adjust the z-score threshold, opacity, and color scale to focus on regions of peak ictal activity.
Contact labels
Toggle contact name labels directly on the oblique slice. Each label is displayed next to its corresponding contact marker, making it easy to identify electrodes and individual contacts at a glance.
Parcellation overlay
Load any FreeSurfer parcellation (aparc+aseg or custom) and toggle it on/off as a coloured overlay. Regions are labelled from the FreeSurfer colour lookup table.
Contact to region table
A live table maps every visible contact to its anatomical label from the loaded parcellation. The table updates automatically when you switch electrodes or adjust the overlay.
Navigation
Scroll to zoom, drag to pan, Ctrl+drag to rotate around the electrode axis. Double-click anywhere in the slice to reset the view to its default zoom, pan and rotation.
Slice view toolbar
Each oblique slice has its own floating toolbar (bottom-left of the view). Click the expand arrow to reveal the tools:
- Screenshot: save the current slice as PNG or JPEG and copy it to the clipboard automatically
- GIF export: export an animated GIF that rotates the oblique plane around the electrode axis
- Save view: save the current zoom, pan, rotation and background mode for this slice
- Restore view: restore the previously saved position for this slice
- Remove background: toggle to remove the black background from the display and PNG screenshots (saved as transparent PNG). Does not apply to GIF exports.
- Rotate 45° / 90° / 135° / 180°: rotate the slice image around its centre by a fixed angle
When the view is too narrow to show all tools at once, scroll the mouse wheel over the toolbar to browse through them.
3D preview toolbar
The small 3D preview panel has its own floating toolbar with camera and export controls:
- Screenshot: save the 3D view as PNG or JPEG and copy it to the clipboard
- GIF export: export a rotating 3D animation as a GIF, with choice of rotation axis (X, Y or Z)
- Front / Back: snap the camera to an anterior or posterior coronal view
- Left / Right: snap the camera to a left or right sagittal view
- Beauty left / Beauty right: oblique front-left or front-right angle, optimised for presentation screenshots
- Save camera: save the current camera position to the project file
- Restore camera: restore the previously saved camera position
- Transparent background: toggle transparent background for screenshots (PNG only)
Export
- Screenshot of either slice view at full resolution
- Animated GIF export via the slice toolbar
- Contact to region assignment table exportable to CSV
